HUNDREDS OF HOUSES INUNDATED IN NORTH BENGKULU
Bengkulu, Sumatra, Oct. 24 (ANTARA) - Some 130 houses were inundated on Thursday evening following incessant rains over the past few days in North Bengkulu District.
We have received a report from Deputy District Head of North Bengkulu Salamun Haris, about the floods which sumberged more than one hundred houses," said Fausan Rahim, a Bengkulu provincial administration official.
The floods had hit three sub districts, namely Batiknau, where 60 houses were inundated, Air Besi 54 houses, and Giri Mulya, 16 houses, he said.
"We have instructed the Social Welfare Service head to immediately send relief aid consisting of food and clothes to help flood victims," he said.
He alerted Bengkulu's inhabitants of possible landslides and more flood in the beginning of the rainy season.
