BALI, RUSSIA TO EXPLORE POSSIBILITY OF COOPERATION IN CULTURE, TOURISM
Denpasar, Oct 24 (ANTARA) - Bali's provincial administration and the Russian government are to explore the possibility of cultural and tourism cooperation, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Alexander Ivanov said after a meeting with Bali Governor I Made Mangku Pastika here on Friday.
In the one-hour meeting at the governor's office, Made Mangku Pastika and Alexander Ivanov discussed several issues related to efforts to enhance cooperation between Indonesia and Russia.
Ivanov said Balinese arts and culture had a special place in the hearts of Russian people and therefore cooperation in the area was being explored.
"Russian tourists are fascinated by Bali's unique culture and consider learning more about it an unforgettable experience," Ivanov said.
He said Indonesia-Russia cooperation needed to be enhanced as the number of Russian tourists visiting Bali was increasing from year to year.
"The number of Russian tourists visiting Bali continues to increase every year, and therefore a special program is necessary for cultural relations between Indonesia and Russia," he said.
He said the possibility of cultural cooperation had been explored by Russian painters in Ubud. They made the natural beauty of Bali and its local culture as the objects of their paintings which would be displayed in an exhibition in Moscow.
"The paintings on Bali's natural beauty and its local culture which are going to be exhibited in Moscow are expected to arouse the Russian people's interest to visit Bali," Ivanov said.
