RI CONSULATE GENERAL IN NEW YORK TO PROMOTE WOC

Manado, Oct 24 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's consulate general in New York is ready to promote next year's World Ocean Conference (WOC) in Manado, North Sulawesi, among the international community, a spokesman said.

"The WOC in Manado from May 11-15, 2009 is part of Indonesia's efforts to save the seas from global warming and therefore we are committed to promoting it among the international community," Indonesian consul general in New York, Trie Edi Mulyadi, said here on Friday.
Trie Edi Mulyadi and five rof the conulsate's staffers are visiting North Sulawesi to obtain firsthand information about the infrastructure and security preparations for the international event.
Meanwhile, North Sulawesi provincial administration spokesman Feibe Rondonuwu said the RI consul general's presence in Manado was also to meet with academicians at Sam Ratulangi University, the authorities of the Manado Integrated Economic Development Area and the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asia Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), the provincial branch of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), and a number of other non-governmental organizations.
