President assigns al-Eryani to contact JMP leadership

SANA'A, Oct. 23 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh assigned on
Thursday his political advisor Abdul-Karim al-Eryani to contact with
leadership of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) to present to them a
number of thoughts.

President affirmed concern to overcome all disputes between the
political forces in the local area and the importance of the
participation of all in the democratic process and taking part in
the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The thoughts included the following:
1- The government should take its procedures with the Parliament in
order to vote on the draft of amendments of Elections Law and should
amend elections law regarding the formation of the Supreme
Commission for Elections and Referendum to increase from 9 persons
to 11.2- One of the two persons added to the commission should be
from the JMP while the other one from the National Opposition
Council.3- Education Ministry's electoral registration committees
should remain to complete their tasks of reviewing and correcting
lists of voters.4- The special electoral committee of nomination and
voting should be formed according to 2006 elections.
