GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS PROVIDES EXPORT OPPORTUNITY FOR INDONESIA

Jakarta, Oct 23 (ANTARA) - The 23rd Indonesian trade expo, held in Jakarta from Oct 21 to 25, was expected to improve the image of Indonesia as one of the countries in the world offering quality and competitive products to the global market.

Organized by the trade ministry, the event provides an opportunity for exchange of information on programs and government regulations relating to trade, tourism and investment.
The event will provide business opportunities to local and international businessmen for business transactions based on mutual benefit.
Built on 15,384 square meters of land, the exhibition was joined by 927 participants, comprising individual private businesses and government organizations, occupying seven main halls, including Icon Pavilion, Hall A, Hall C, Hall F, and and open space for members of the Indonesian funiture industries and the Indonesian handicrafts association (Asmindo).
Indonesia's exports to traditional markets like the United States and East Europe had been predicted to decline amidst the current global financial crisis.
"Hence we continue diversifying the export market, and boosting relations with non traditional destinations like the Middle East, East Europe and Africa," Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said.
Raising the theme "What the world would do without Indonesia", the Indonesian trade expo is being held in the framework of observing the 100th anniversary of the National Awakening Day.
The national awakening day marks Indonesia's pride of its natural resources like minerals, forestry, agricultural and marine products. In manufacturing sector has appeared as the biggest producers and have an international trademark.
"And we also have to be proud of the image of Indonesian products and services for the export and domestic markets.
