AGO GRILLS ANOTHER EX-DIPLOMAT FOR ALLEGED CORRUPTION

Jakarta, Oct 23 (ANTARA) - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) here on Thursday grilled former immigration chief at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, Arry Pramono, for corruption allegedly committed during his overseas posting in 2002-2004.

On Wednesday, the AGO also questioned Pramono's predecessor, Djoko Duhartono, who was head of immigration at the embassy in the 1998-2002 period, for the same reason.
AGO spokesman Jasman Pandjaitan said on Thursday Arry Pramono was investigated by a team of investigators in charge of probing into the case.
"We continue to examine the alleged corruption case at the Indonesian embassy in Beijing," he said.
Previously, the AGO had named two former Indonesian ambassadors to China as suspects in corruption cases. The alleged corruption took place between May 2000 and October 2004.
The suspects collected 55 yuan US$7 from each application for a visa, a passport or document in lieu of a passport (SPLP).
The funds they collected from the practice totaled 10,275,684.85 yuan and US$9,613. But the collected funds were never transfered to the state as non-tax revenue (PNBP).
Pandjaitan said the funds were used by the suspects for their own personal purposes.
The collection of funds from applications for immigration documents was based on a decision by the Indonesian head of representatives in China, Beijing, No. 280/KEP/IX/1999 on Immigration Tariff dated September 24, 1999.
