HINDRAF LEADER P. WAYTHA MOORTHY'S PASSPORT WAS NEVER REVOKED
PUTRAJAYA, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar
Wednesday reiterated that his ministry neve gave any instruction to revoke the pasport of Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leader P. Waytha Moorthy, who is now in exile in Britain.
Syed Hamid said the Home Ministry only asked him to surrender his passport
to Malaysia's High Commision in London.
"But he refused to do it, so how can the passport be cancelled if he
never surrendered it," he told reporters at RELA's Aidilfitri open
house here Wednesday.
Syed Hamid said there was also no instruction to cancel Waytha Moorthy's
passport through the Immigration Department's control system and that he could
still use it it was still valid.
On Wednesday 11 Hindraf supporters caused a commotion at Parliament when
they wanted to submit a memorandum to the Speaker seeking his intervention to
have the government reactivate Waytha Moorthy's passport.
The group claimed Waytha Moorthy's passport had been revoked, and as such,
he could not return to Malaysia to celebrate Deepavali with his family.
