M'SIA LOOKING AT STREAMLINING INCENTIVES FOR INVESTORS

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian government is looking at streamlining incentives provided under the Promotion of Investment Act and those by the Finance Ministry under the Income Tax Act, International Trade and Industry Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said Wednesday.

"There are investors who are not too sure how come there are two investment
incentives under this sort of arrangement. So we want to propose and submit
to the Cabinet to put them in place hopefully under MIDA (Malaysian Industrial
Development Authority) or MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry,"
he said after his ministry's open house.

Muhyiddin said a decision would be made before end of this year on the
proposal for a uniform system or mechanism of incentives.

"We will also see what incentives our neighbours are offering," he
said.
