M`SIAN PM DEPARTS FOR ASEM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi left for Beijing Wednesday evening to attend the two-day seventh
Asia-Europe Meeting (Asem) starting Friday.

Accompanied by his wife, Jeanne Abdullah, he left the Subang
Airforce base in a government jet at about 4.45pm.

Abdullah is expected to launch the Beijing representative office of
Khazanah
Nasional, Malaysia's sovereign investment arm, Thursday.

He is also scheduled to have several bilateral meetings with Asian and
European leaders.

Among the leaders Abdullah is expected to meet are Philippine President
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, Pakistani Prime
Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Cypriot President Demetris
Christofias.
