Nozari: Iran able to overcome sanctions targeting oil projects

Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Nozari said here Tuesday that Iran has
been able to go on with oil projects despite sanctions.

"We have left behind all sanctions targeting oil industry projects,"
Nozari said at the inaugural ceremony of South Pars phases six, seven
and eight in Asalouyeh, Bushehr province, on Tuesday.

Nozari said all standards which used to lock decisions in oil industry
sectors have been unlocked.

He hoped that South Pars phases nine and 10 will also be inaugurated
soon by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

South Pars phases six, seven and eight were inaugurated on Tuesday in
Asalouyeh, Bushehr province by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The three phases are expected to increase sour gas output by 104
million cubic meters, condensed gases by 158,000 barrels a day and
butane and propane gases by 1.6 million tons annually.

Thirty wells 4,000 meters deep in the Persian Gulf supply gas to South
Pars phases six, seven and eight through three offshore platforms and
three 32-inch pipelines.

Phases one through five of the field are already operational.

Ministers of Oil Gholam-Hossein Nozari and of Industries and Mines,
Ali-Akbar Mehrabian, Deputy Oil Minister and Managing Director of
National Iranian Oil Company, Seyfollah Jashnsaz, Managing Director of
Pars Oil and Gas Company, Ali Vakili, and the leadership's
representative in Bushehr province, Governor General of Bushehr
province and provincial Majlis deputies also attended the ceremony.

In addition, South Korean, Norwegian, and Malaysian ambassadors and a
number of economy attaches of other countries, including Japan and
Venezuela, were present.

Twenty-four phases of local gas refinery, 30 petrochemical projects
and three LNG units will come on stream in Pars Energy Special
Economic Zone.
