Toronto (VNA) - Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan has assured the
Canadian business circle that they are always welcomed in Vietnam .

The Vice President attended a Vietnam-Canada Business Forum that was jointly
held in Toronto on Oct. 20 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, the Embassy of Vietnam, and the Toronto City Council.

She said economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Canada have
seen positive progress in the recent past, but are yet to match the
potentials of the two countries.

Therefore, Vietnam commits itself to create favourable conditions for
Canadian investors to operate in the country, Doan said.

She took this occasion to thank the authorities of Toronto and Ontario
province for their help to the Vietnamese community to integrate into the
local society.

firms of Vietnam discussed the possibility of cooperation and investment
in a number of fields.

Vietnam and Canada have seen their economic and trade ties grow
strongly in recent years, with this year's two-way trade estimated to exceed
the 1 billion USD benchmark for the first time.

Canadian businesses have to date invested 4.7 billion USD in a number of
projects in Vietnam , including a 4.2 billion sea resort in southern Ba
Ria-Vung Tau province, which is funded by the Asian Coast Development Ltd.

Vietnamese companies have so far this year exported 600 million USD worth of
garments and textiles, footwear, agricultural products, seafood and wooden
furniture to Canada .

Also on Oct. 20, Vice President Doan attended and delivered a speech at the
ceremony marking the 35 th diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Canada
, which was hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy and the Canada-Vietnam
Friendship Association. The vice president also met with Toronto Mayor David
