MINISTER OPTIMISTIC ABPIT 23rd TRADE EXPO INDONESIA
Jakarta, Oct 21 (ANTARA) - Despite the current financial crisis, the 23rd Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) still draws the interest of 33 countries, also called trade missions, with 1024 buyers, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said in a press conference here Tuesday.
The trade missions come from the US, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, potential markets such as the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Brazil, Russia and several eastern European countries like Hungary and Bulgaria.
"They are here not only for the TEI but also to develop opportunities to build business networks and investmens potentials in Indonesia. So we must be optimistic," she said.
With the theme "What Would the World Do without Indonesia" and business-to-business orientation TEI features top ten Indonesian export commodities, ten potential products along with three service sectors.
"Through TEI 2008 we want to present the best Indonesian products with our own brand, made and produced in Indonesia and also to increase our pride in the quality and value of the products and services," she said.
Earlier in her opening remarks the minister also expressed appreciation and gratitude to all the parties for hard work in making the target of 7000 buyers from 115 countries and sale transactions worth US$ 220 million realized in the event.
In order to achieve the target, TEI is not merely an exhibition but there will be a tourism, trade and investment business forum, product presentation, workshop and networking reception.
