BPK: GOVT SLOW IN IMPROVING ADMINISTRATION
Jakarta, Oct 12 (ANTARA) - The government was considered slow in fixing the administration of state finances management and responsibility to be more transparent and accountable, Anwar Nasution of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) said.
The conclusion was submitted by Nasution who is BPK Chaiman when handling the Summary of the Investigation Results (IHPS) of the 2008 Budget in the First Semester. The summary was handed over to the House of Representatives during a Plenarry Session here Tuesday.
At central government level, BPK carried out an investigation on 87 Ministries/Agency Financial Reports and 275 Reports on Regional Administrations.
From the results of the investigation, BPK concluded that the financial roeport at either on central government or regional administration levels had decreased in quality with each passing year.
"The worse condition decribes that there is no improvement in state financec transparency and accountability," Nasution said.
Most of the problem, BPK Chairman said, is related to weak internal control and ignoring the law.
"This result is repeating all over again. It reflects the sluggishness of the government in improving the management of its finances," he said.***
