CONSTITUTIONAL COURT REJECTS AMROZI'S REQUEST TO REVIEW DEATH SENTENCE LAW
Jakarta, Oct. 21 (ANTARA) - The Constitutional Court (MK) has turned down death-row convict Amrozi's request to conduct a judicial review on Law No.2/PNPS/1964 on Procedures to Implement the Death Penalty.
"Hereby, the request to conduct a judicial review on the Law formally and materially is entirely rejected," Constitutional Court Chairman Mohammad Mahfud MD said when reading the court's decision here on Tuesday.
Amrozi et al who were sentenced to death for their involvement in Bali bombings had filed for a judicial review of the law because they believed execution by a firing squad as mandated by Law No. 2/PNPS/1964 was against their constitutional right not to be tortured.
