TANGERANG IMMIGRATION TO DEPORT 15 AFRICANS SOON
Tangerang, Oct 21 (ANTARA) - The Tangerang Immigration Office has confirmed that it will soon deport 15 Africans who were arrested recently for staying in the country illegally.
"All of the 15 Africans who were nabbed yesterday will soon be deported to their country of origin," Tangerang Immigration Office chief Pondang Tambunan said here on Tuesday.
Tambunan said the deportation process would take place after an investigation and the Africans had been provided with passports.
According to previous reports, the Africans had been rounded up in different parts of Tangerang, namely Jatiuwung, Karawaci, Cikupa, Ciputat, and Kelapa Dua.
To anticipate even more foreigners without legal permit in Tangerang, the local Immigration Office made a regular raid once a month.
On Monday, October 20, the local Immigration Office nabbed 15 Africans without temporary stay permits at a housing complex in Lippo Krawaci.
The Africans consisted of 7 nationals of Liberia, 4 of Cameroon, 5 of Nigeria, and one of Guinea.
The immigration officials originally raided 23 foreigners but only 15 of them were arrested because they did not have stay permits.
According to Tambunan, the 15 Africans were identified among others as Peter Ahmanivaeza, Obinna Henry, Alexander Freeman, Samuel Cheelbi, George Weah, Henry Bach, Francis B Inolo, Dominic W Wisseh, Julius J Kwateh, Nojee Bakenanoah, Tono Charelles, Bella Onomo Isaie, Tames Chukwu, Morgan M, and Ngomo B.
The 15 Africans had violated article 52 of Law No.9/1992 on immigration because they did not have passports or stay permits.
As per October 2008, the Tangerang Immigration Office had nabbed and deported a total of 39 foreigners from Nigeria, Liberia, Cameroon, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, and other countries.
