POLICE ARREST TERROR SUSPECT IN NORTH JAKARTA
Jakarta, Oct 21 (ANTARA) - National Police Chief Gen Bambang Hendarso Danuri has confirmed the police's antiterror unit arrested a wanted terror suspect identified as Wahyu in North Jakara recently.
"It is correct. Our antiterror unit nabbed a terror suspect in North Jakarta," Danuri said when asked by reporters here on Tuesday.
The police arrested Wahyu after confiscating explosives, ammunition and bombmaking manuals at his rented house.
However, Bambang Hendarso would not provide further details on the arrest, saying the investigation into the case was still ongoing.
"We prefer not to expose the case to the public for the time being because we are still after other wanted terror suspects. Just wait until the whole operation has been completed," he said.
In Wahyu's house, located on Jalan Gading Sengon, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, police had found three kilograms of explosives believed to be TNT, 21 rounds of ammunition and two bombmaking manuals in a plastic cabinet in the house's main room.
According to the chief of the local neighborhood association, Abdul Wahab Jamaluddin, Wahyu had rented the house for a year.
Neighbors said Wahyu was a relatively quiet person, below average height and known to be working as a plumber.
