AZERBAIJAN`S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MINISTER MEETS EUROPEAN COMMISSION REPRESENTATIVE

Baku, 21 0ctober ,(AzerTAj)Heydar Babayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister for Economic Development, met with Janos Herman, Deputy Director General at the European Commission External Relations Directorate, press service of the Ministry of Economic Development told AzerTAc.

Minister said that the visit of Mr. Herman to Azerbaijan is of particular importance for the country for further development of democracy in Azerbaijan and in the light of President Ilham Aliyev`s overwhelming victory in the election.

The minister also updated EC representative on the close EU-Azerbaijan cooperation, stressing Azerbaijan`s integration into European community is a priority of the country`s foreign policy.
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to its membership in the World Trade Organization as well as the adaptation of local legislation to the European one, according to Heydar Babayev.

Mr. Herman said that the South Caucasus nations along with the Eastern European
states are interested in close cooperation with the European Union.
The meeting was held in the presence of Alan Waddams, Head of the European Union
Baku office.
