Kazakhstan to host World Petroleum Council’s meeting on technology transfer

A meeting of the World Petroleum Council (WPC), a theme of which will be technology transfer, will be held in Kazakhstan, KazEnergy Association Chairman Timur Kulibayev said at a press conference in Astana on Tuesday.
"We together with Mr. Bertani (Renato Bertani - WPC President) agreed that Astana will host another meeting of the World Petroleum Council on the development of technology transfer," Kulibayev said while answering journalists' questions whether Astana will become a venue for World Petroleum Congress.
He said the World Petroleum Congress is large-scale event, which is held once in three years.
"In 2008, I was personally involved in the work of the World Petroleum Congress in Madrid.
The event discussed important issues of the global oil business. Spanish king, as well as all the ministers of oil producing countries attended the opening," Kulibayev said.
He recalled that the upcoming World Petroleum Congress will be held in Moscow in 2014.
"We also would like to hold the congress in Kazakhstan in the future. Astana is prepared for such events. We plan to hold such a forum," Kulibayev said.
