Airport Link offers special discount until year end
BANGKOK, September 28 (TNA) - Airport Link, a mass rail Thai transit system serving international passengers between Bangkok's inner areas and the country's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport in adjacent Samut Prakan province, has offered a special discount for passengers who now only pay a 20-baht-fare each throughout its City Line, from September 30 to December 31, 2012.
Em-atcha Pongpanphanu, chief of Airport Link's public relations department, told journalists on Friday that the special promotion, between 11am and 2pm every day Thailand's time, is based on a
government policy heeded by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), the operator of the Airport Link.
Em-atcha acknowledged that Airport Link is Thailand's first mass rail transit system launching the promotional campaign for the passengers' one-way trip to any station along the City Line during the special period.
Normally, passengers are to pay 15-45 baht each, depending on distances, when riding on Airport Link electric trains.
Em-atcha said Airport Link has maintain its fare for general passengers riding for only one station at 15 baht each; while the fares for Student and Senior Smart Pass holders, offered for 20 and 50 per cent discounts respectively, have remained unchanged.
According to Airport Link's public relations department chief, the special promotional campaign is not only aimed to thank passengers who regularly use its City Line's service, but to also draw more passengers to try its City Line's service in order to help reduce traffic congestion and pollution.
