MINISTER OPENS NATIONAL MEETING ON HEALTH AFFAIRS
Surabaya, Oct 21 (ANTARA) - Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari opened National Health Working Meeting (Rakerkesnans) at Pakuwon building here on Tuesday.
The meeting, intended to discuss efforts to reach the health targets set by the government, was attended by government and health officials across the country.
"The objective of the meeting is to reach health targets which were set by the central government," the health minister said.
She said the targets were among others reduction of maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate, reduction of the number of malnourished victims, and improvement of life expectancy.
"We have to try hard in our effort to reach the targets and to maintain the pro-people programs until after 2010," Minister Siti Fadillah said in here opening address.
On the occasion she also shed a light on the difference between Health Affairs Ministry's condition four years ago and the present.
"Four years ago the Health Affairs Ministry's condition was like a wilderness but now there is transparency although things are not yet 100 percent perfect," she said.
The two-day meeting until Wednesday is attended by around 1,500 people from all over Indonesia.
