DIPLOMATIC CORPS REPS VISIT GOBUSTAN CONSERVATION AREA
Baku, 20 0ctober ,(AzerTAj)The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has today organized for diplomatic corps representatives an excursion to the Gobustan state reserve, where they got familiarized with ancient rock carvings.
“We have to popularize the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan,” said chief of the
information department of the Foreign Ministry Javanshir Akhundov.
According to him, this program was started earlier this year with diplomats visiting
the National Museum of History. The Ministry plans to continue the program by
organizing trips to different regions of Azerbaijan.
Gobustan State Reserve located west of the settlement of Gobustan, about 40 miles
southwest of the capital Baku was established in 1966. It is a national historical
landmark of Azerbaijan, which aims to preserve the ancient carvings, mud volcanoes
and gas-stones in the region.
