EU COMMISSIONER FOR EXTERNAL RELATIONS AND NEIGHBORHOOD POLICY MAKES STATEMENT ON PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN
Baku, 20 0ctober ,(AzerTAj) - EU Commissioner for External relations and Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner made a statement on the presidential elections in Azerbaijan.
In the statement, she welcomed the considerable progress noted by OSCE in the
conduct of the Presidential elections on 15 October.
She also praised “the efforts to create more equitable legal conditions for
opposition candidates, and the amendments to the Electoral Code.”
“The European Union will continue to support Azerbaijan`s efforts to further the
development of democratic institutions in the country and we will strive to develop
our bilateral relationship in the context of the European Neighborhood Policy”, the
statement concludes.
