Gia Lai grants nearly 3,000 houses to the poor
Gia Lai (VNA) - Central Highlands Gia Lai province has built 2,940 houses and repaired 800 damaged ones for the poor, with funding coming from contributions by agencies, businesses, organisations and individuals.
At a launching ceremony of a month for the poor held on Oct 17, the
provincial Fatherland Front committee received nearly 409 million VND in
donations to the poor.
The Fund for the Poor in Gia Lai, which has raised more than 19.6 billion
VND since 2001, has also purchased 207 breeding cows for the poor and
provided 470 million VND for health care and cataract operation for nearly
2,000 poor patients.
Besides, the fund has granted 300 scholarships to poor children and
provided young plants and animals for 21,540 families of ethnic minority
groups in remote areas.-Enditem
