Vietnam actively joins global trade union activities

Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnamese Trade Union (VTU), as a member of the World
Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), has actively participated in the
federation's activities and developed ties with other countries' trade
unions.

The statement was made by President of the Vietnam General Confederation
of Labour Dang Ngoc Tung while receiving a delegation from Syria 's General
Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) led by Muhammad Shaaban Azzouz, who is
also the President of the WFTU, in Hanoi on October 20.

The VTU has well done its major task as a representative and protector of
legitimate rights and interests of trade unionists and labourers, Tung
added.

While affirming the VTU's great contributions to the national development,
especially during 20 years of renewal, President Muhammad expressed the GFTU's
wish to learn experiences in protecting labourers' legitimate rights and
interests from Vietnam .

He also suggested that the two sides actively strengthen the exchange of
delegations and coordination within the WFTU, helping boost the friendship
and cooperation between the Vietnamese and Syrian people.

As the WFTU President, Muhammad acknowledged the VTU's contributions to
the WFTU and said he hoped that the union would further its relationship
with the WFTU for the sake of legitimate rights and interests of union
members and workers.

The GFTU delegation will leave Hanoi on October 21, concluding a five-day
working visit to Vietnam . -Enditem
