Vietnam wins silvers at ASEAN Beach Games
Jakarta (VNA) - The Vietnamese team won two silver medals, both in
Pencak Silat, on the second day of competition at the 1st ASEAN Beach Games
2008 in Indonesia on Oct. 19.
The medalists were Nguyen Viet Anh in the men's demonstration and Vu Thi
Thao and Nguyen Thi Binh in the women's double demonstration.
However, their teammate Le Thi Hong Ngoan, who carried Vietnam 's hope
for a gold medal lost right in the first match due to illness.
In handball, the Vietnamese girls lost to the Indian team, but their coach
expects they will play better in the next two matches against Indonesia
and Taiwan .
On Oct. 20, Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team will have a semi-final match
against the host Indonesia .
In Pencak Silat, Trinh Hai Vuong and Le Thi Phi Nga will play in the
semi-finals against Malaysian and Indonesian competitors, respectively.
Pham Van Mach and Nguyen Van Lam will enter body buildings' final event.
Meanwhile, the men's soccer team is to meet the Republic of Korea
team.
In volleyball, the men's team will meet Bahrain and the women's team will
meet the Philippines .
The Games 2008 opened on Oct. 18 and will run until 26, drawing the
