Kazakh president: As chairman China may give new impetus to CICA

Kazakhstan, Astana, Sept. 12 / Trend D. Mukhtarov / Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that China may give a new impetus to the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), as chairman of the organisation in 2014 - 2016, President Nazarbayev said at the opening of the CICA jubilee session in Astana today. "China has a unique historical, political and cultural experience to promote a complex process of building trust and developing Asian cooperation," Nazarbayev said. He said that China's presidency will give a significant impetus to the CICA by strengthening and continuing further development. "China is aimed at ensuring security in Asia through a multilateral dialogue based on mutual interests and consensus", the Kazakh president said. At present, Turkey chairs the CICA.
