Parliament ratifies Int'l Convention protects disabled
SANA'A, Oct. 18 (Saba) - In the session presided by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hemiar al-Ahmar, parliament approved on Saturday the International Convention on Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the optional protocol hereto.
On the basis of a report issued by Public Rights and Human Rights Committee,
Parliament prompted the government to finalize procedures of ratification process
and accession to the this convention and its protocol.
Government also should take the required legislative measures according to the
article (4) of convention and other related articles to make the convention takes
effect.
The convention's main goal is to protect and ensure the rights of persons with
disabilities equally with others in all human rights and enhancing the basic rights
and boosting up their dignity.
