ASIAN BEACH GAMES - RI'S FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATS TIMOR LESTE'S 9-1

Denpasar, Bali, Oct. 18 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's football team beat Timor Leste's 9-1 at Mertasari Beach, Sanur, Bali Province, during the opening beach football match of the First Asian Beach Games (ABG) here on Saturday.
The goals were made by Dewa Dwipayuda (four), Artadinata, Nyoman Jumada, and Wayan Putrajaya.
Timor Leste coach Manuel Da Costa Soraes said he was not disappointed with the defeat because he knew that technically Indonesia was much better off.
"Of course we wish to beat Indonesia, but we cannot. The result was better than we got in the previous competition in Malaysia recently," he said.
Indonesia defeated Timor Leste 16-2 in Malaysia last August 2008.
"In the next match, we'll try to perform better," he said.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates won over Myanmar 7-1 in the following beach football match of the ABG.
The First Asian Beach Games comprises competitions in 17 beach sport branches such as beach volleyball, dragon boat racing, body building, beach soccer, beach handball, beach pencaksilat (traditional martial art), beach wrestling, jet-ski sport, marathon swimming, para-gliding, sailing, triathlon, windsurfing, woodball and sepaktakraw.
Some 45 Asian countries are taking part in the ABG to be officially opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Saturday evening.***1***
