OIC welcomes establishment of Syrian-Lebanese diplomatic ties

Jeddah, October 18, SPA -- The Secretary General of the Organization
of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has
expressed OIC's deep satisfaction over the decision taken by Syrian
President Bashar Al-Assad to establish diplomatic relations between
Syria and Lebanon.

OIC's Secretary General congratulated Syrian President Al-Assad and
Lebanese President General Michel Suleiman on this decision in
messages he addressed recently to both on this occasion.


He pointed out that this decision will have a positive impact, as it
will enhance to a palpable extent Syrian-Lebanese relations and will
serve the best interests of the people of both countries, according
to a latest press release of the OIC.
