Minister: Iran-Turkey intend to promote ties

Ankara, Oct 18, IRNA - Turkish Interior Minister Besir Atalay in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Turkey Bahman Hossein-pour said the two countries have shown their intention to promote mutual ties.

Referring to the recent visit of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to
Turkey, Atalay evaluated it as a good visit with positive
achievements.

Concerning mutual cooperation in the field of security affairs,
especially fight against drug smuggling, the Turkish minister said,
"We had a good and appropriate cooperation in the field of fight
against drug smuggling and such ties should continue."
Hossein-pour, by referring to the intention of Iranian senior
officials for developing ties with Turkey, said, "A full political
intention exists for developing bilateral cooperation between the two
countries."
He called the role of Interior Ministries in developing and
consolidating ties "Important" and by referring to the high potentials
of both countries for expansion of relations asked for taking basic
steps toward developing mutual ties in different fields.
