MINISTER URGES CAPITAL MARKET PLAYERS TO DO BUSINESS ETHICALLY
Jakarta, Oct 17 (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has asked capital market players to do business in a good and ethical way.
Speaking to the press at the presidential office here on Friday, the minister said both the government and capital market players had common interests in preserving the stability of the financial sector.
"So we must rid (the capital market) of various adverse practices," she said.
For its part, she asked the Capital Market and Financial Institutions Supervisory Agency (Bapepam LK) and the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) to control capital market players and uphold rules.
Economist Umar Juoro meanwhile warned the government against protecting certain companies in the capital market.
He asked the stock exchange to explain in an accountable and transparent way the reason behind its decision to suspend share trading recently.
