MILD QUAKE HITS W SUMATRA
Padang, W Sumatra, Oct 17 (ANTARA) - A 3.9 magnitude earthquake shook the West Sumatra town of Padang Panjang and its environs on Friday evening.
The epicenter of the quake which struck at 04.12 p.m. was located on the slope of Mount Merapi in Tanah Datar district, spokesman for the Padang Panjang meteorology and geophysics office Roni said.
The one-and-half-minute temblor was felt by people living in Padang Panjang at II-III on the modified merchally scale, he said.
