S. Korea to face Iran in final of U-16 Asian football championship

SEOUL, Oct. 17 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will clash with Iran in the final of the
under-16 Asian football championship in Uzbekistan, according to the sport's
regional governing body.
South Korea defeated Japan 2-1 on Wednesday, winning a spot in the final
organized by the Asian Football Confederation. The team scored 15 goals during
the tournament that kicked off early this month and will face Iran at Pakhtakor
Stadium in Toshkent, the AFC said.
Iran, the four-time champions who have not lost a single match in the tournament,
thrashed the United Arab Emirates 3-0 earlier this week to advance to the final,
the AFC said.
South Korea have claimed the title twice since 1986.
