Qafco Loaded Five Vessels with Urea on the Same Time

Doha, August 06 (QNA) - Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO) has recorded an internationally significant benchmark in fertilizer trading when it simultaneously loaded five ships with urea at its berth in Mesaieed industrial city. The shipments were heading to Brazil, Thailand, Bangladesh, Australia and Pakistan. This is the first achievement of its kind in the world in urea export; affirming Qafco's pioneering role and importance in fertilizer producing and marketing. It is also considered as a big and vital step in boosting the company's position in the global fertilizer market. Qafco's Vice-chairman and CEO Khalifa Abdulla Al-Sowaidi underlined the importance of this achievement in strengthening the company's position in global fertilizer market. "This step is an essential aspect of Qafco's commitment to achieving customers satisfaction and gaining their confidence through huge production and marketing capabilities which the company enjoys, especially after the successful inauguration last year of Qafco-5 expansion project that made Qafco the world's largest single-site producer of ammonia and urea. Qafco-5 brings Qafco's total ammonia production to 3.8 million MT and urea to 4.3 million MT. Meanwhile, Qafco-6 expansion project which has started commissioning two months ahead of the scheduled date of work completion in the last quarter of the current year 2012 will increase the company's daily urea production capacity to 18000 MT, i.e., a net daily vessel load and will bring the annual production to 5.6 million MT, thereby boosting the company s position as a major player in the global fertilizer market". On the same occasion, Qafco's Chief Marketing Officer Yousef Jaham Al-Kuwari said: "The Marketing Department at Qafco is proud of the great and many achievements made so far in urea export, adding that the loading of the 5 ships with urea is a significant and positive step in this direction. It will further boost our relation with our current customers in the four corners of the world and will further help us discover new markets for the company products". Product quality, geographical location and efficient logistics on site provide QAFCO with strategic marketing advantages for a competitive edge in a free global market environment where Qafco has confidently grown into a key player in the international fertilizer market and gained recognition among giant world fertiliser producers and exporters. Today, Qafco exports urea, ammonia and melamine to more than 35 countries across continents, with export volume reaching 2,910,417 MT of urea and 504,447 MT of ammonia in the year 2011. (END)
