Qatari Awqaf Minister Honors Endowers

Doha, August 05 (QNA) - HE Minister of Awqaf (Endowment) and Islamic Affairs Dr. Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari Honored a group of endowers of the ministry's General Directorate during a ceremony held last night at Sheraton Doha Hotel under the slogan "Endowment Fulfillment Day". Attending the ceremony, which included about 300 endowers, were a number of officials and scholars in addition to those concerned with the endowment. In his speech, Director-General of Awqaf Abdulla Jathaan al Dosari noted to the position of Waqf and its importance in Islam, quoting verses and Hadith which praised the endowers. Al Dosari also noted to the development witnessed by the Waqf in Qatar, saying that the oldest endowment in the state is registered with the general administration of Awqaf since 1924 for Rashid bin Yarboe. He stressed the importance of Waqf and its role in the development, such as establishing Holy Quran Memorization Centers, building mosques and helping poor people. In a speech on behalf of the endowers, Saad bin Ahmed Al-Misnad said that the fruit of the Endowment is not limited to the poor and needy, but it extends to social goals and contributes to community building. He expressed the hope that the General Directorate of Endowment will complete its march to put forward endowment projects needed by the community in various fields and serve specialized purposes such as waqf in Holy Quran, marriage, students and widows. He also expressed his hope that the Ministry of Awqaf, represented in the General Directorate of Endowments, will strengthen communication with the endowers by annual reports through the modern means of communication. At the end of the ceremony, HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs distributed souvenirs to the of honored endowers. (QNA)
