Combating sea piracy regional conference delayed

SANA'A, Oct. 16 (Saba)- Minister of Transport Khaled Ibrahim
al-Wazir has confirmed that Yemen continues its efforts with all
regional and international parts to end sea piracy phenomenon and to
implement recommendations of the workshop which was organized in
Sana'a and Muscat, the state-run 26sep.net reported on Thursday.

The Minister said that Yemen has earlier warned of dangers of
piracy and President Ali Abdullah Saleh raised the case during the
visit of the director of International Maritime Organization to
Yemen in 2004.

The minister said that the regional conference of combating sea
piracy has been delayed which was decided to be held in Yemen in
October 27-30, confirming that it is delayed according to
International Maritime Organization demand and it is expected to be
held before the end of 2008
