Barshim eyes High Jump Gold at London Olympics

London, August 04 (QNA) - Qatar s Mutaz Essa Barshim will begin his campaign in Men s High Jump Event at the 2012 London Olympic Games on Sunday. Sunday s competitions include Women s 400 Metres Hurdles, Men s High Jump, Women s Triple Jump, Men s 100m, Men s 1500m, Men s Hammer Throw, Men s 400m, Women s 400 m, Men s 3000m Steeplechase and Men s 100m. At the 2012 indoor Asian Championships, held in Hangzhou, China, on 19 February 2012, Barshim won the gold medal and established a new personal best (and national record) of 2.37 m (7'9.25"), breaking the previous championship record of 2.34: it was also the highest indoor jump in the world, to date in 2012 The Qatari squad includes Noor Al-Malki (Women s 100m), Hamza Driouch (1500m), Mohammed Al-Qarni (1500 m), Mohammed Bakheet (Marathon), Mutaz Barsham (High Jump) and Musaab Abdulrahman Balah (men 800 m).
