AMERICAN OBSERVERS WITNESS FREE AND FAIR ELECTION IN AZERBAIJAN
Baku, 16 0ctober, (AzerTAj) “We witnessed free and fair election in Azerbaijan”, a statement of the group of 40 American observers said on the results of monitoring of presidential election in Azerbaijan.
Group members stated presidential election in
Azerbaijan was held in a completely transparent manner.
Head of the mission Mrs. Gwen Belcourt noted group members obtained information
about the planning and organization of election from NGO representatives to better
observe election process in Baku and regions.
She stressed results of monitoring in over 200 poling stations suggest that election
was transparent, democratic and legitimate.
Belcourt pointed out Azerbaijan has done much work to conduct free and transparent
election. Milli Majlis made amendments to the Election Code in line with proposals
of the Venice Commission.
Other members of the group stressed that all conditions had been created for them to
observe election.
