EUROPEAN MONITORS PRAISE AZERBAIJAN ELECTION AS FAIR AND TRANSPARENT
Baku, 16 0ctober, (AzerTAj)Azerbaijan`s presidential poll met international
democratic standards, and was fair and transparent, European observers said.
At a press conference on Thursday, 34 monitors representing seven countries hailed
the Azerbaijani authorities` efforts to ensure that the election be conducted in
accordance with requirements of international organizations, including OSCE, its
Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, and Venice Commission of the
Council of Europe.
The observers praised Azerbaijan`s changes to its Election Code to bring it to
international standards.
They also stressed high turnout in the poll.
