TWO MORE FORMER KINABLU CONSULATE GENERAL OFFICIALS ARRESTED

Jakarta, Oct 16 (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday arrested two more former officials of the Indonesian consulate general in Kinabalu, Malaysia, on graft charges.
The two are identified as Mohammad Sukarna, one-time Indonesian consul general in Kinabalu, and Mas Tata Mahrun, former chief of the consultate general's economic, information and socio-cultural affairs.
Earlier, the commission also arrested Kamso Simatupang, former chief of the immigration subdirectorate at the Indonesian consul general in Tawau, Arifin Hamzah, former consul general in Kinabalu, and Ayi Nugraha, former chief of the immigration subdirectorate at the Indonesian consulate general in Kuching.
They have been suspected of embezzling fees on immigration documents between 1999 and 2005.
The commission also has named a number of suspects in the case, including former Indonesian consul general in Kinabalu, identified by initials as KR, and former chief of economic, information and socio-cultural affairs at the Indonesian consulate general in Kinabalu, identified by initials as RE.
In addition, it also has named two chiefs of immigration subdirectorate at the liaison office of the Indonesian consulate general in Tawau, identified by their initials as AN and MT, suspects in the graft case.
The other suspect is identified by initials as YR, chief of the immigration subdirectorate at the liaison office of the Indonesian consulate general in Kinabalu.
They have all been accused of enriching themselves or others by imposing double tariffs on applicants for immigration documents. The fees were supposed to go to the state coffers as non tax state revenues.
The case has inflicted Rp11.7 billion in losses to the state.
