RI STEPPING UP COOPERATION IN INFORMATION WITH CHINA, ASEAN
Beijing, Oct 16 (ANTARA) - Indonesia is stepping up its cooperation with other ASEAN countries and China in the information field, Indonesian Information Minister Muhammad Nuh said.
"I am attending a meeting of ministers responsible for information and media in Nanning, China," the minister said when contacted by phone from Beijing on Wednesday.
The minister was attending an ASEN-China Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Information and Media held in Nanning, Guangxi, China, October 15-16. It was held in an effort to enhance cooperation in the field of information.
"The aim of the meeting is to cooperate and exchange of information which has a strategic role in stepping up information and media cooperation among ASEAN and China," the minister said.
He said various information cooperation schemes between ASEAN and China had actually been proceeding well and needed to be increased.
He mentioned as an example the opening of Indonesia's News Agency ANTARA's office in Beijing and of China's Xinhua in Jakarta.
"Cooperation has been established well between Beijing and Jakarta," he added.
Arianto Surojo of the Indonesian embassy in Beijing said that the two-day event included a senior officials' meeting and a ministerial conference of the ASEAN countries and China.
