S. Korean robot fair showcases latest advances
SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Yonhap) -- An international robot exhibition kicked off in Seoul Thursday for a four-day run, highlighting the latest advances and trends in the robotics industry, organizers said.
A total of 200 robots from 95 companies are on display during the fair being held
at the Convention and Exhibition Center in southern Seoul, the Korea Association
of Robot Industry said.
The annual event that first began in 2006 is made up of the International Robot
Industry Show, a robot contest and a conference.
The robot contest involves 1,300 robot development teams, with robots
participating in 35 competitions, while the conference allows engineers and
companies to exchange views on current developments and the future of robots, the
association said.
Seoul aims to become one of the top three robot industry leaders by 2018, with
the global market expected to top $420 billion in 2020.
