Date for sentence of two national spies set
SANA'A, Oct 15 (Saba) - The Appeal Unit at the Specialized Penal
Court has set October 20 as a date for the hearing in which a
ruling on the case of two locals accused of spying for an Arab state
would be delivered.
The state-run 26sep.net said the unit had held a number of sessions
on the case during which the prosecution upheld the initial ruling
providing for the death sentence on the two nationals, identified
as Hamad Ali al-Dhahook and Abdul Aziz Hasan al-Hatabani.
The defendants appealed against the decision.
In late February, the Specialized Penal Court convicted the two of
spying for Egypt through supplying Egyptian diplomats in Sana'a with
false information the act which the authorities say had harmed the
country's position.
