UN SECRETARY-GENERAL RECEIVES O.ENKHTSETSEG

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations (UN) Ms. O.Enkhtsetseg is satisfied with active development of the Mongolia-UN relations and cooperation. She said it to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at a farewell meeting arranged in connection with her completing office term and returning home. Ms. Enkhtsetseg thanked Mr. Ban Ki-moon for the help and assistance. In 2007-2012, the Mongolian side paid several official visits to the UN--five at the Presidential level and three at the Premier's, besides, the UN Secretary-General visited Mongolia in 2009, and all this has made regular high-level talks and strengthened Mongolia's position and its contribution to the multi-lateral cooperation," she underlined. Since getting a UN membership in 1961, Mongolia has been supporting the UN actions, developing the democracy, participating in the UN peacekeeping operations, protecting interests of the landlocked developing countries, contributing to solving of the sustainable development and global climate changes issues, she underlined. Ms. Enkhtsetseg mentioned that Mongolia's Millennium Development Goals are being implemented with 66 per cent and stated a need to be more active in reducing a poverty, in ensuring sustainable development and gender equality. In turn, Mr. Ban Ki-moon congratulated Mongolia on gaining achievements in developing the democracy and in ensuring economic growth. He thanked Mongolia for supporting the UN's activities and highlighted that the UN highly appreciated significant contribution, professional skills and experience of Ms. Enkhtsetseg in widening the Mongolia-UN relations and wished her great success. Then O.Enkhtsetseg held farewell meetings with Mr. Cheick S. Diarra, the Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, and with Ms. Susana Malcorra, the UN Chef de Cabinet to the Executive Office.
