UN General Assembly President Condemns Massacre in Syria

New York, July 14 (QNA) - The UN General Assembly President Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser "strongly condemns" the reported mass killings in the village of Tremseh, near Hama in Syria, his press office said in a statement. He said late on Friday that the Syrian authorities to "urgently" provide the necessary protection and security to the UN observers in Syria so that they can visit the site of the reported atrocities and verify the reports. "The confirmed use of heavy weaponry and helicopters by Government forces in this populated area is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Government's commitments made under the Six Point Plan put forward by the Joint Special Envoy for Syria Kofi Annan," he noted. He reiterated his call on the Syrian Government and all other parties to cease all military operations and violent attacks "immediately," and urged them "strongly" to respect and implement all General Assembly and Security Council relevant resolutions.
