GOVT, HOUSE AGREE TO ECONOMIC GROWTH AT 6.0 PCT

Jakarta, Oct 16 (ANTARA) - After passing several stages of deliberations, the government and the Budgetary Committee of the House of Representatives (DPR) finally agreed to set the country's economic growth target for 2009 at 6.0 percent on Wednesday night.

The 6.0 percent target was set after taking into considerations of the government's determination to maintain development priorities that had been set in the government's 2009 Work Plan (RKP).
During the working meeting with the Budgetary Commission, the government was represented by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Minister for National Development Planning/Chairman of National Development Plan Paskah Suzetta and Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Boediono.
The meeting also agreed to other macro-economic assumptions such as inflation rate in 2009 at 6.2 percent, rupiah currency exchange rate at Rp9,400 per US dollar, three-month BI interest rate at 7.5 percent and Indonesian Crude Price at US$80 per barrel.
"Thus, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is projected at Rp5,327.537 trillion," Suharso Monoarfa, chairman of the working committee on basic assumption affairs, said.
He said that with the basic assumptions, the state revenues and grant were projected at Rp982.725 trillion in 2009, with revenues amounting to Rp725.843 trillion and non-tax revenues accounting for Rp55.946 trillion.
Monoarfa said that state expenditures were agreed at Rp1,035.457 trillion.
