CHAIRMAN OF CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION GIVES PRESS CONFERENCE ON INITIAL VOTING RETURNS
Baku, 16 0ctober, (AzerTAj)Chairman of Azerbaijan Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov gave a press conference, hours after polling stations closed across Azerbaijan.
Panahov said 75.64 percent of the electorate voted in Wednesday`s presidential
election.
The CEC chief said with 70 percent of returns counted, Ilham Aliyev is ahead with
89.04 percent of votes.
According to him, the percentage of votes cast for other six candidates is as follows:
Igbal Agazade – 2.78%
Fazil Mustafayev – 2.40%
Gudrat Hasanguliyev – 2.22%
Gulamhuseyn Alibeyli – 2.18%
Aliyev Fuad – 0.75%
Hajiyev Hafiz – 0.62%
Panahov said the turnout was very good, with a lot of joy and enthusiasm among voters.
