Bahia al-Hamad to Be Qatar's First Female Olympic Flag-bearer

Doha, July 11 (QNA) - Air- rifle shooter Bahia al-Hamad will have the honor of being first female to carry Qatar's flag at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Twelve Qatari athletes are set to compete in four key disciplines - shooting, swimming, table tennis and athletics - during the two-week event taking place in London, UK between 27 July 2012 and 12 August 2012. Youth Olympian Bahia Al-Hamad was Qatar s most decorated athlete at the 2011 Arab Games in Doha, where she won three gold and two silver medals. She will make history in London as part of the Qatar's first-ever female delegation to the Games, which also includes sprinter Noor al-Malki, swimmer Nada Arkaji and table tennis player Aya Majdi .
