Interior Ministry, QMIC Sign MOU to Enhance Smart Transportation Service

Doha, July 10 (QNA) - Qatar's Ministry of Interior (MOI) and Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre (QMIC) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the experimental use for the project 'Masarak' (your rout) that aims at the developing intelligent transport services and traffic control. The MOU was signed for the MOI by Chairman of the National Command Center and director of the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Brigadier Abdullah Mohamed Al-Suwaidi, and for QMIC by the Executive Director Dr. Adnan Abu-Dayya. The signing ceremony was held at the National Command Center and was attended by a group of senior officers. The MOU aims to implement a pilot project to determine the effectiveness of the smart traffic control system in monitoring traffic conditions, providing traffic information in real time and the possibility of exchange of traffic data of the Ministry of Interior to increase the accuracy of information delivery. Brigadier Abdullah Mohammed Al-Suwaidi said that Masarak is a project to develop intelligent transportation services and applications and it works on the development of traffic monitoring mechanism in the country, pointing out that this development is one of the goals of the Ministry of Interior, which stems from its strategy in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. He stressed the keenness of the MOI on keeping pace with technical development in all fields in order to enhance and develop the services provided to all segments of the society. Dr Adnan Abu-Dayya praised the level of cooperation with MOI, represented by the National Command Center, in developing Masarak system. (QNA)
