Rafsanjani warns Lebanon against US, Israeli conspiracies

Tehran, Oct 15, IRNA - Chairman of Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Tuesday warned Lebanon against efforts made by the US and Israel to mislead the future Lebanese elections.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Leader of Lebanese Free
Patriotic Movement (FPM) Party Michel Aoun who arrived in Tehran on
Sunday on a five-day stay to review issues of mutual interest with
senior Iranian officials.

Rafsanjani praised resistance of Lebanese nation against conspiracies
and extremist policies of both Washington and Tel Aviv in the past two
years.

He added that solidarity among various Lebanese political parties is
the key to the victory of the Lebanese government and nation in the
future.

Rafsanjani warned the Lebanese people against the Israeli
conspiracies, reiterating that the regime has always been trying to
create discord among various Lebanese groups.

As the US and Israel oppose tranquility, stability and development of
Lebanon, they try to mislead all positive developments in that
country, particularly the future parliamentary elections.

The Lebanese parliamentary elections is set for next May.

The Islamic Republic of Iran enthusiastically follow up the Lebanese
developments and is seriously interested in stability and security of
the nation.

During the meeting, Aoun briefed Rafsanjani on his country's latest
developments and appreciated key role played by the Islamic Republic
in helping Lebanon peace and stability.
